Website Club membership terms

Everything you need to know about Website Club membership. By setting up your membership payment, you are agreeing to these terms, so please read them carefully.

Creating your website

Here's all the steps involved in getting your website ready, and what we'll do for you during each stage.

Adding your work

We'll start by setting up a blank website for you, so you can log in and start uploading your work. This will make it easier for us to design your site, as we'll be able to see how your actual work looks instead of using mockups. We'll provide instructions on how to use the editor, or jump on a quick call to walk you through it.

Setting up your membership

Before we start working on the structure and design of your website, we'll get you set up with your monthly membership subscription.

Website structure

Now that you have added your work and you're an official Website Club member, we'll schedule our first screen-share session! We'll use this call to create all the pages and structure of your website – choosing the different 'building blocks' that will make up your website, arranging them on each page, and choosing what details to show for your work.

At the end of this session we'll be able to see any gaps in the content that you need to fill in before the next step, and any extra setup/features that we need to add to complete your website structure.

For individuals – this stage consists of one call, lasting an hour.

For companies – this stage consists of two calls, each lasting an hour.

Design customisation

Now that the structure and content is all in place, we'll schedule our second screen-share session. This is the most fun part – we'll customise the design of your website to match your brand and capture the vibe that you're going for, tweaking the settings and adding the final polish that makes your website look amazing.

If there's any tasks that don't make sense to complete during the session – for example, if we need to make some code changes – we'll use some of the setup time after the call instead so that we can spend the screen-share call most productively.

For individuals – this stage consists of one call, lasting an hour.

For companies – this stage consists of two calls, each lasting an hour.

Extra customisation

If you want to spend some extra time tweaking the structure or design of your website, or need a brand new feature or a custom integration, then we can discuss an estimate for this which will be based on an hourly rate of £75.

Beta features

Website Club is just getting started – during these early days if there's a missing feature that you need, and we think it would benefit other members to create, then we'll do this for no extra charge. If it's something that would only be relevant to your website, it would fall under the extra customisation work described above.

Support + updates

All plans include monthly support to keep your website working hard for your business – we can add new pages or sections, swap things around, tweak design settings... whatever you need!

For individuals – your membership includes 1 hour of monthly tweaks.

For companies – your membership includes 2 hours of monthly tweaks.

Support requests

All support requests should be made via email initially – just drop us a line via the website contact form. If needed, we'll arrange a call to discuss the details.

We aim respond to all emails within 2 business days, and act on all requests within 7 business days after that. It'll often be a lot quicker, but occasionally could be longer (e.g. if it's something complicated, falls on the weekend, or we're on holiday) – either way, we'll let you know as soon as possible.

Combining update hours

If you need us to tackle a larger task, we're happy to combine 2 months worth of update time – using the following month's time early and then doing no updates in that month. If a task will take longer than this, we'll treat it as extra customisation work and give you a quote for the additional time needed.

Website hosting

We use a service called CloudCannon to host our websites and power the content management interface.

As CloudCannon are a 3rd-party provider, we rely on them (and are not responsible for) the uptime of your website. We've been using them for years and have never had any issues, and wholeheartedly recommend them to all our clients. You can check the status of their cloud services at any time here here. In the unlikely event of any issues, we will liase with CloudCannon to get your website back online as soon as possible, or transfer our services to another suitable provider.

You are responsibile for the content you upload to your website. Please read the Responsibility of Contributors section from CloudCannon's Terms & Conditions to make sure you abide by their rules – basically: nothing illegal, immoral or pornographic. Any website breaching the rules will be removed immediately without refund.

Domain name

It is best for you to be responsible for your own domain name, so that you retain control of it and can configure other services like email. The cost of your domain name is not included in your Website Club membership. We will provide instructions on how to configure your domain name to work with your new website, or are happy to log in to your control panel and make the changes for you.

Vimeo

The Website Club framework integrates with your Vimeo content to handle video streaming – Vimeo has one of the best video players in the world, so we make the most of this. Some features require a paid Vimeo membership, which is not included in your Website Club membership.

Payments

Website Club is a subscription service costing:

For individuals – £75 per month.

For companies – £225 per month.

Your membership payment is due monthly, on the same day you originally signed up.

If a payment fails, we'll contact you to resolve the issue. If we don't hear from you within 2 weeks, we'll assume you want to cancel your membership.

Ending your membership

You can send us a message any time if you want to cancel your membership.

When your membership ends, your website will be removed. After this, we won't be responsible for retaining backups of your website and content.

You'll retain ownership of all elements of text, images and data you provide, unless someone else owns them. You guarantee that all content you provide or upload to your website are either owned by you, or that you have permission to use them.

We’ll own the design and code elements of the website and we’ll license its use to you for this project only, for as long as you're an active member. You are not permitted to copy the website design and code for use by another website host or provider.

We love to show off our work and share what we’ve learned with other people, so we reserve the right (once the site is finished) to display and link to your project as part of our portfolio and to write about it on websites, in magazine articles and in books.
